In 2008, one of dance musics most legendary groups was formed. Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso were already three of the more iconic artists of the time, but when they formed Swedish House Mafia, it was if the stars aligned. “One” was their first single in 2010, reaching 7 platinum records in Sweden. The simple chords are recognized by dance music fans worldwide, not to mention Pharrell Williams as an ideal vocalist. Musical trifectas like this don’t come around often, that is why we are taking this Thursday to remember “One” by Swedish House Mafia.
Half way through the week means HIP HOP HUMP DAY!
Today we have for you the new Schoolboy Q single recently released off of his up-coming album “Oxymoron”. Schoolboy recently released this fresh track along with the album artwork to build some hype for what is going to be one of the first great rap albums of the new year. With produced tracks from artists such as The Alchemist, there looks to be some fire coming out for this new generation rapper. The album artwork is reminiscent of the recent trend in rap to produce minimalist album art and focuses mainly on the Schoolboy’s face, both uncovered and masked up. One of the more memorable lyrics in the song comes during the second verse where he states:
“Good weed, I hit that, crack rock, I sold that
Oxy, I hid that, right by my nutsack
Fuck pigs, I bust back, learned that from Deuce rap
Peanut and B-loon, had gats before racks
Way ‘fore I found rap, bitch I had them things wrapped
Astro on my cap, this shot ain’t no phone app”
Listen and Enjoy
